The mission of the Martha Root Re-barn Members (MRRM), a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, is to promote education in the arts/sciences; encourage non-violent conflict resolution and the preservation of historic sites.
1) The Arts and Sciences: The MRRM educates through events offered in the Roubian Gallery, located in the Martha\'s Barn complex. The Juel Design Studio area is but the starting point for the educational and creative activities which will promote the arts and sciences. The MRRM also owns and manages legacy archives and current design drawings, plaster versions of monuments, and showcased works for the benefit of regional tourism, and for school and university enhancement programs.
2) Conflict Resolution: Martha Root\'s life was consecrated to conflict resolution among the great world religions, and she was steward for the famed "Race Amity Conferences" in the 1920\'s. The experience of peace movements of Jewish, Zoroastrian, Christian, Islamic, Babi and Baha’i origins will be sought, because they are the six monotheistic religions that all have originated from the Middle East. Emphasis upon conflict resolution of the crisis in the Middle East and efforts to understand the dynamics of its reverberations in America and abroad will be essential for a peaceful world.
3) Historic Restoration: The particular barn associated with the life of Martha Root is being transformed into a "cultural cathedral," where art and culture may be enjoyed in two auditoriums, galleries and fountain adorned libraries. The 2800 square feet main auditorium will serve as venue for performances and lectures. The restoration of a great icon of American craftsmanship, the 19th Century Dairy Barn is a worthy challenge. Similar barns are falling all over the United States much like the buffalo did more than a century ago, and as it cannot be bred back, it needs to be saved and restored before it is too late.
