Many osteopathic physicians have deep connections with their communities and become involved as volunteers and leaders in local activities.  <br /><br />Getting to know a DO is a good way to learn if you have the aptitude and desire to become an osteopathic physician. Applicants should meet and spend time shadowing the physician. This provides the applicant with exposure to the osteopathic profession and enhances awareness of osteopathic medical philosophy. Knowing more about the profession, will prepare the applicant for the interview.
